Motel 8

Well I'm sitting here in a motel 8 wasting away my night and my laptop battery listening to the Psalms.
This week I have tons of homework to plow through before spring break is over. I have 40% of Psalms read, write a synthesis paper, read from to different commentaries, and study for a mid term.
All for ONE class!!
Then I have two quizzes to get ready for, for two other classes. I also want to get a book read for New Testament survey 1.
We'll see how that goes... I don't know about that.
I also have to prepare an information speech for monday. That'll probably prove to be the most difficult since I seem to have trouble doing well on speech preperation.
God's grace abounds. I pray that he'll give me grace to finish all this homework.
I'll be home this week by Tuesday, and back in LA again by Saturday. Tomorrow I'm going to visit Azuza Pacific because the guy I'm going back with is visiting there before him, his grandma, and me go back to Grand Junction and I get to go home.

I was just listening to a John Reuben song and it sounded like it was talking about the concept Jesus talks about in Matthew 10:39.
I had never really understood what Jesus siad in this verse: "He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it."

In the song Reuben says something like: if you live your life for things that don't really matter in the end and you die. Then really you had nothing all along.

It made me realize what Jesus meant. If you live your life to the 'fullest' as some people call it. Living for yourself and wasting your time. You may have lots of fun, but in the end you will lose your life. But whoever leaves his life to serve others and make the name of Christ great, then for losing your life at death you will have saved it.

It was kind of cool how it just clicked in my mind.

It's late (rambling)

And I'm sitting here doing nothing but listening to the book of Job and talking to Deric. Job has (as of now) become my favorite book of the Bible. It's just so cool. Job is awesome and where in the rest of the Bible can you get such a long dialogue of wisdom straight from the mouth of God?? It's just amazing.
Well, I should get to bed. I'm happy that I finished Esther and I'm getting 10 chapters of Job finished. I have tons to finish before Thursday. That's gonna be crazy. It's gonna be interesting to see what grade I get on my Econ test I took Friday (yesterday). It was pretty hard, I found myself behind throughout the time. Dr. Mackey gives us about 50 minutes and 50 questions which is really annoying since we need to think about most of the questions because of the weird confusing wording. I studied for it. I suppose I could've studied more, but there's always more that you can do, and never an end really.
Anyway, enough rambling I should go to bed.

7:15 AM

Here I am sitting in my dorm room in front of my computer at 7:15 AM. Don't know why, but today I got up at 6:35 or so. So, now I'm ready a little early and don't really have a reason to be. Mostly I'm just wishing I could have gotten more sleep last night but I have to be at work in about 5 minutes so it's not worth it.

This week's been crazy.
2 tests. 3 or 4 quizzes. One got cancelled so, I'm not sure whether I still had 4 or not. And I had to give my testimony. Which I did a pretty bad job of, unfortunately. and then I had at least two worksheets due and a bunch of reading. Didn't finish the reading completely, but I'll have to do that this weekend. Oh well.
SO MUCH HOMEWORK.

Ok, I'm done with my surprise. It looks like next week will be more calm?
We'll see. Never can tell, but at least I don't have any tests.
I gotta get ready for work.

Pearls and 24

Ok, I would like to start off this post by saying that everyone should read Pearls before Swine and watch 24 so you can be like me and then we can all be the same. All the better to erase individual identity! WahAha!

Ok, that sounded a little too propaganda-ey... Let's try that again.
Twenty-four is a really amazing show that I think most of my readers would enjoy and I recommend it to everyone. Also, while I am recommending I would like to mention to you that Pearls Before Swine is a really really great comic strip that exhibits simple humor in the most grand and entertaining fashion. I would recommend you start reading it.

That was pretty good, no?

Anyway, I'll just give a little update and stop messing around (hmmm, nah scratch that last part I'll just give you a little update).

I'm over at someone's house with my good friend and work buddy Houston and we're housesitting with these people. It's pretty fun.
Last night we stayed up late watching tv eating pizza and experementing with the features of Windows Vista through an ad-hoc network between our computers.
This morning I made some omelettey goodness for me and Houston with eggs, onions, salt, pepper, and 3 kinds of cheeses (recipe straight from your favorite cook, Billy lol). It turned out well enough and we ate it with salsa.
That's pretty much all. Gotta study for like 4 quizzes, a test, and a speech due this week. (oh, 2 tests I mean, I better get busy, later y'all)

What I did yesterday

Here's some of the things I accomplished yesterday.

1. get up at 6:45am to start getting ready to go to work.
2. go to work at 7:30am and set off the alarm.
3. listen to John MacArthur (Johnny Mac to some) speak in chapel.
4. school, work work work.
5. eat some toast with honey on it that I dropped on the ground (honey side down of course). LoL, I surprised some people with that one, but it looked clean enough to me and frankly I just really wanted to eat that toast.
6. watch 2 hours of 24 woohoo!!

Well, lots of interesting and exciting things have happened. But I'd like to start out with this:

That's right people. I have gone vista! I like alot of the features. There's some cools stuff. Unfortunately there are alot of things they need and here are a few:

Aeroglass effects need to be the user's choice, not windows. I have a modest computer. It's not a whole lot really, but I'm pretty sure it would work if I wanted it to. However, microsoft decided they wouldn't let the user choose that. Also, there are alot of driver problems. That's probably more of the driver companies problems though so I don't complain alot about it. There are a few more dumb things vista does, but I don't have time to talk about them. Otherwise it's not too bad.

Anyway, I also got office 2007 and that is pretty much amazing. I'd been using the beta version anyway, so I have really no complaints so I'm happy to switch to the full release. It is a wonderful program I would like to encourage everyone to use.

The next thing this week that was cool & worth talking about is Ruckus.com
That thing is AMAZING! 2000 free downloads with a school e-mail and the only disadvantage is you can't transfer to an mp3 player or cds, which stinks, but can't be helped with free music lol.

Well, I'm pretty much pumped about web design class. The homework is a bummer because of the way we have to do it. But other than that I love it. I'm going to be learning CSS which is AWESOME!! Already know some html, so now I'm out for the gold which is CSS. Our final project is to make our own webpages :) So I've got www.yokanchi.com all set up for me to put up as soon as I come up with some code and some things to put on it. So, I've been trying to come up with ideas for a name. And, since I'm not all that creative in words I'm needing suggestions for a name of my website if anyone has one that'll be great, as well as suggestions for things you want to see included in the site.

Well I need to go hit the gym, but I have one more thing to throw out to you reader (whoever that may be). Why in the world does blogger load this on the website title???

What in the world does apple have to do with google???
Oh, well a mystery to be contemplated later. Adios

Sumthinbowl

This morning the guys in the car I rode to church in were talking about how dumb sounding the name is for the super bowl.
"hmmm how about fantastic bowl! mmm, no, how about.... annual bowl. mmmm no, excellent bowl? great bowl? SUPER bowl!! yeah! super bowl. Because it's super! lol

Yeah, anyway.
Here's what's been happening this week. I started to get a little more homework. Yeah, I have 3 quizzes this week in one class... Not sure how that works. Last week we did have two of those classes cancelled, but we still only have a usual 1 quiz a week in that class, so I guess he just decided we became lazy bums while having that hour and a half off monday and wednesday. Then, I have one more quiz in another class too. And another one in another class. At least I don't have anything to write this week, but I'm doing my testimony ahead of time, because I'll have to give it for speech.

This weekend I played ultimate frisbee in the mud, and it was actually pretty fun. And I also ate sushi and made sushi with some friends. I had some from a resturant and then we made our own, and the ones we made tasted the best :9

Then today. I watched the superbowl. Actually I only watched half of it, but that was fun even though the team I was rooting for lost. It's alright though since that's the first football game I've even watched this year. Oh, yes. I also dressed up as a gnome with a group made up of all Slight guys we like to call the "Blue Zoo" and went with an assortment of other characters to the men's basketball game and cheered our team on.
It must have worked because we won. I'm kidding of course, but it was really fun except for how sweaty I got and how loud it was in the mask.

Even cooler, I got it for free! Yep, that's right. I got it for free from my work. It's a little old but works great.
So, basically it's full of energy drinks and sodas almost all from the week of welcome at the beginning of last semester LOL. But, it keeps my water and applejuice cold at least lol.

Web design and HTML

Sitting here in Intro. to Web Design and Programming.
I think this one is going to be one of my favorite classes, but I think I'm going to like all of my classes. Speech will probably be the hardest, but I've always been used to speech coming as something that would be hard.

At the beginning of the semester it felt like I was being drowned by the amount of classes and homework. But, with God's help I figured out that it would be easier if I dropped my Ethics class. I originally planned to drop New Testament Survey 1 because I am planning on being in Old Testament Survey 2 but I decided to drop Ethics because there was more writing involved in Ethics (I know I'm a wimp, but I don't enjoy essays as much).

For now you might not expect updates quite as often as you might have noticed since I haven't posted in like 2 weeks. I'll be focusing on sleeping and homework more than blogging unfortunately.

Truth & Life Conference

So the first week of being here we are just supposed to go to conferences in the morning and at night. Tonight's speaker was really really good and one part of what he said really struck me.

If people are leaving the church or the youth group it is because we have not made the story of the cross brilliant, compelling, or clear enough. It is not because the church/youth group is not 'cool' enough or does not have contemporary enough music or media. This is a very adolescent look at it/ If people are leaving it is because we have not proven Christ to be worth more than money, power, sex, drugs, friends, or materialism.

Our speaker was Art Azurdia. He was really amazing. I think he was my favorite speaker so far.

Beta or no?

Well this is my first post in blogger beta, which apparently isn't actually beta anymore. However, they don't call it blogger two. All I've seen about it is just saying it's not beta anymore, so apparently it's called blogger beta-not-beta... I dunno, anyway
I've decided I'm going to start posting in dialogue. That is to say I will start posting something as if it were spoken or quoted from something. I think after a few of those posts I'm going to switch to some other types of writing just to make it interesting and hopefully increase my writing skills.

That guy is awesome! Well, our winter camp trip turned out to be a day longer than we meant it to be. The camping at TPBC was great. I went sledding, but didn't play snow football because of my ankle that I rolled earlier at home. Well, Chandler's dad came a little early on Thursday morning to pick us up so we could outrun the snow that was coming. However, we obviously didn't leave soon enough, because the road to come home was closed so we ended up staying at a hotel in Glenwood Springs. That was pretty fun, we played Farckel and Loot. then we came home pretty easily this morning. Well, that's the down low for this week.

Mail Truck

Well,
Yesterday we spent the whole morning shoveling our grandparents driveway and unstucking cars. One of them was a mail truck. That was kind of cool (well, interesting, it wasn't really that cool because it took like 2 or more hours). So I was going to go Christmas shopping again, but we didn't have time.
We were planning on going to Chandler's house yesterday which is why we didn't have time. They were coming down in the jeep to pick me and Benjamin up. Then we found out that they were coming later, so I went shopping for like a half and hour. That worked out pretty well.

Now, today. Well, yesterday. We spent all day backing up and reformatting. It went really well till I had to find drivers. Then I spent an hour trying to find one stupid driver. I found it eventually and had it mostly set up when I realized that my hard drive was way fuller than it should have been. We then checked it out and realized that my hard drive hadn't gotten reformatted so I spent another couple hours redoing all that, but it was much easier because I had everything already downloaded. So now here we are, almost ready to go to church.

Well, I don't really have time to post anything else.

Snow Falls!

Wow! We just got like 2 feet of snow in about a night and day!
Yesterday me and Benjamin walked to King Soopers (the grocery store) through the blizzard. Just making it through was pretty fun, but we also got coffee and doughnuts to eat on the way back. We got a Monster House and watched it also. It was a pretty good movie. The movie is about a possesed house which you would know from the trailers (I think). I really liked the graphics. That was a really cool part of the movie, but there were some things I didn't like but overall it's a pretty good movie. I watched a few other movies too including Superman, Cars, and Pirates of the Carribean dead man's chest. I liked them all well enough. My favorite was Superman. I don't understand why some people didn't like it. I guess it was a little sentimental, but it seemed to fit. Cars unfortunately was way too sentimental. For an animated movie about cars there's just not alot of room for slow sad scenes or slow happy ones. whoever made the movie obviously wanted alot of that but tried to pack too many in. Really it did have some good personalities and some really good parts that I did enjoy though. Obviously Mater was the best character in there. I think he pretty much made the movie for me.
Anyway, then there was Pirates 2. I liked it, but I did understand why people liked the first one better. It seemed like it was a little too packed with action and a little lacking in good wit. Overall. however, it was pretty good and a good watch something you should see after watching the first one. Oh, there was the scantily clad ladies. I noticed whereas in the first movie it was pretty clean and not so abusive with the cleavage but in this movie there was too much.

Yeah, everyone's probably already watched these movies lol, but I've ended up watching alot over older movies this semester instead of the newest ones. Well, I just thought I'd post my opinion.

Well, yeah, I'm home.
The flight home was made on two different planes with a stop at Pheonix. It was pretty good. Coming over Denver was a little bumpy. I left at 6:30pm and got to DIA at 11:30pm. Ending up getting to bed at 2:00am I slept in till 11 Saturday morning and now it's Sunday.
Should be a good break :)
Chandler, figure out when Moriah wants to see that movie next time you talk to her.
Not much else to say... I forgot how cool my room was, it's awesome and so is my cat.
Well, not much to do this week till the reformation party. Got a dentist appointment on Monday though.

Happy Feet

Wow, aren't our animated childrens movies so uplifting these days. I'm so happy Hollywood is pushing humanistic ideals. Aren't they just grand....
Yeah, this doesn't look like a movie I'll be going to see. According to Michael Medved it's a movie that is "dark, disturbing and deeply political." Scary.
Read the whole commentary He's made on the movie if you get a chance.

Here's the conclusion of the movie Happy Feet on plugged in movie reviews from focus on the family.


Happy Feet: "Happy Feet, shot with a true director's eye for camera movement, scene composition and detail (the little Mumble wears 6 million feathers and his dance steps are all motion captured from virtuoso tap-dancer Savion Glover), gives us a digital Antarctica that's both bone-chilling and beautiful. It also boogies down a path that kids' movies have just about worn down into a rut: Be true to yourself. Gratifyingly, although that theme has been hijacked in recent years by (anti)social agendas, the film doesn't appear to boast any banner other than, 'Friendship and love can overcome any difference.'

OK. It does hoist one other banner. The cute little penguins (humanized with romantic desires, teen angst and even a kind of religion) are being threatened by a horrible and mysterious alien. And that evil entity is ... us. If only mankind would go away, they seem to be saying, then all the creatures of the world could be happy and live in harmony. Of course the film's creators overlook the fact that if man went away then there wouldn't be anyone around to anthropomorphize all that is cute and cuddly anymore. How would the penguins tap-dance then?

So, what's on the dance card for families who're itching to move their feet toward the local cineplex? A pouty Prince song, 'perpetual indulgence,' a bit of defiant behavior, oddly unpleasant interjections of spiritualism, Footloose-style loosen-up-you-old-fuddy-duddy "moralizing," and a few bodily function jokes. But also images of sacrificial love, friendship, courage and loyalty. Not to mention (again) the idea that nobody should be shunned just because he likes to dance and you like to sing. "

Broomball and Finals

Well tonight was pretty awesome! I got to go to the Slight/Sweazy dorm Christmas party. That was fun, but the real fun started when we went to play broom ball and various other games on the ice. For those of you who have not heard of broom ball (I hadn't) it's where you have two large teams and two goals similar to ice hockey. The thing that is different is that nobody is wearing skates. Contrary to the name we do not use brooms either, but we used these sticks with a small rubber thing on the end. Then instead of a puck, we use a rubber ball about 7 inches in diameter.

I almost didn't go because it costed 5$. My roommate ended up paying for me to go though, so that was really cool. Thanks Sean! Well, I also got to hang out with a really cool girl too and that added to the overall fun-ness.

Well, I don't have much more to blog. For next week I'm just praying that I study enough for the finals. Honestly I don't think they'll be too hard now that I've finished my finals for Aural Theory (That's music theory that you have to hear and know exactly what you are hearing). The English final could be a little bit hard. The study guide seems a little bit vague and I'm so I'm really not sure what all to study, but I have some notes I'll read and hopefully that will help. Then there's my old testament final. That will be somewhat hard. There's a significant amount of information to study, but I think it will be pretty easy. He's such a good teacher that he makes the learning easy. Unfortunately I'd have to say looking back I really didn't like my English Comp. Class so much. Realizing how much we actually have to do. The teacher is nice, but sometimes hard to understand. The thing I really don't like though is how we have to write 5 papers throughout the semester, then write a really big research paper, and then after that even take a final. Apparently this is the only English comp. class that we have to take a final in. None of the other English teachers require it. Oh well, it looks like alot of stuff I know. Oh, and there's even questions like the SAT. I thought that I was done with dumb SAT questions, but obviously my English teacher thinks that everyone wants more experience taking SAT like questions since we'll be doing that so much later in life..... Dunno....

Update

Ok, Here's an update.

Well, I'll try to post quickly. I have alot to get done and alot of sleeping to do so....
We did christmas concerts every night from Tuesday till Saturday. We also did a condensed version of a concert on Friday for chapel. Then for Saturday we did an extra one in the afternoon. And then today, we sang in front of like 2000 people or so at Grace Community Church (John MacArthur's church). We did that for two services. That was pretty fun. The first time we pretty much were really sad sounding, but the second one was pretty much amazing.

So, to sum it all up. Now I'm exhausted and have homework to do along with my extra sleeping I plan on getting done.
Well, it's 6:08 pm Sunday and I have alot to be doing so I'll post again later.

I just had this interesting idea.
For a church to have greater impact on a community what if they decided to have an community committee for the unbelievers.
Now the first thing you would wonder would be, what in the world would they do. (I honestly just thought of this a minute ago and it's just an idea but...)
I think basically it would be led by someone who is very in touch with the surrounding community. They would have to be someone who was a very good people person so that they would know a good number of people that were not church-goers or at least not believers. The person that headed it of course would be a believer, but would have to be a mature one that was in touch with what people that weren't in the church thought and felt about the church. Speaking of the other "members" of the committee, there wouldn't actually have to be a specific member group, although it would be very interesting and possibly benificial to have one, but mostly it would be the one or two leaders from the church heading the committee that would go into the community and perhaps take polls, and generally communicate with the general public to find out what kinds of problems and issues they were facing so that they could bring them up and the church could be of more help to the community. In this way the church would be lifted up in the public eye and hopefully as another good effect people would be brought to the Lord through the committee's leader or leaders because they could possibly be one of the only contacts that some people have relating to anything that is of God.

Basically this would have an intended end-result of a ministry type of committee that would represent the communittee to the church board or at least the church members.

Haven't thought this over a whole lot, I just thought I would throw it out there and see what you guys thought. Leave comments!!!

Spiritual Warfare (To Christians)

Today in church at Placerita Bible Church the pastor was talking about how there is a spiritual battle going on right now even though we can't see it. He was teaching from Daniel 10 where Daniel sees someone (an angel or something) and he talks to him. I think the pastor didn't want to scare anyone so he didn't go as in depth as he could've. That's why I figured I'd blog about it. I might as well talk about it if he didn't.

I think it's very important (extremely important in fact) for us to realize that there is a real spiritual battle that has been raging for thousands of years. Ever since satan left split heaven and created his own rebellion he has been God's enemy and we are sitting right in the battlefield whether we like it or not (which I am most sure we do not). This battle is very unreal to us. The reason it is so unreal is the fact that much of this battle is being waged by spirits, meaning demons and angels.
If you've ever seen one of those fantasy video games, it's very much like that. I don't mean to bring it down to that level, and it's not the same, but just to give us mere humans a picture of what it's like I would like to appeal to the fantasy games that some people play. Of course the real difference that we must realize is how real and consequential the real battle is whereas the video games aren't real and are completely inconsequential in all ways. I just want you to realize that I don't take spiritual battles lightly and think they're just like video games. Understand that I realize how real they actually are. Of course I hope you realize the same exact thing. Most Christians, I believe, don't think of it as this real. They seem to think of this as a fantasy itself.
The reality is this and we must accept it; that angels and demons battle amongst us. There could be a demon standing outside this room battling for entry. There could be more, I don't know. Now this sounds really weird, but it's something we have to take as real. We are at war!
I figure (and this is just speculation) that for the most part all the spiritual battles take place in another kind of dimension which is why angels and demons don't necissarily have a certain physical position. However this dimension is obviously somewhat interwoven with ours and they are able to be in both. We see that angels come and speak with humans all throughout the Bible. We also should take notice of how demons inhabiting humans were very commonplace back then. I think that today there's not nearly anything close to the amount of people that are possesed. But, why is this? I believe that probably the territory that demonic forces had gained during the time from the fall till Jesus had gained was significantly large. After Jesus came the apostles and disciples of Jesus were traveling around and kicking alot of demons out. This is what I believe has brought about the situation today where the demonic forces (at least in the area of human possesion) were significantly pushed back then.

Anyway, this is all to give you a little picture of the colossial thousand + year battle that continues to rage about us. Remember what side you are on and don't fall into laziness. We need to remember to always be fighting back. Now obviously we are hopelessly unequipped. That is why God has given us prayer. Always call for backup. Next, we should always be equipping ourselves. Always be ready to give a defense for the hope that is within. There is no lack of improvements we can make upon ourselves spiritually (and very often physically) to better equip ourselves while we live our lives through this battle. Prayer is one of our most powerful weapons. The Bible is our powerful personal artillary. We must know how to use it effectively. Study it and know what it means. Also, not only is it our personal arsenal but it is also our source of nourishment. Our meals ready to eat for an analogy.
And lastly, do not forget under any circumstances what we are fighting for, what side we are on as Christians, (of course as far as I'm concerned if you're on the other side you can just not worry about forgetting what side you're on. Don't worry about it at all) and continue to fight actively so that you are not taken by the enemy to be used for his purposes or cut down by him so that you are rendered ineffective. What are we fighting for? So that all may know the power of our God and that they can love God or go to hell (I don't say that flippantly, for I hope that you know as well as I do that those that reject our Holy God will burn eternally and this is very important to consider). What side are we on? We are on side of the most holy almighty omnipotent omnipresent and all transcending God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. This means that we are supporting him whole heartedly and every action we do glorifies him and that we should seek forgivness if we do not. Love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, and soul.
Finally, we must continue to fight actively. Therefore we must remember to examine all our actions and seek to glorify God in everything that we do. We must seek whole heartedly to do all that he wills us to do and nothing else with our lives.
With all this in mind again I would like anyone reading this to remember what battle we are taking place in at this very moment. Are you fighting? Remember to always be on guard and always examining every action to see that it glorifies God. I pray that I can do the same.

Segway | Concept Centaur

Segway's got this sweet concept vehicle. It's sort of like a superduper cool ATV except not quite as rugged. It's much more manuverable than any atv though. One of the coolest things I like about it is how you can drive on only two wheels for as long as you need to. Definitly wish I had one of these. This would be for sure one of the coolest ways to get around campus.

Homework can be fun?

I think I've realized why people like working under pressure. It's really just the thrill of getting something done quickly and on time. Being efficient and good. And so they work to get better at being fast and efficient at the same time. They do this by using the deadline as their time limit, not starting till they are forced to do it in a small amount of time and do it well. Of course this probably doesn't apply to well over half of people that do this. Alot of it is probably laziness, but some people do "work better under pressure" and I think that's how it works for alot of people. I think I do like doing it that way sometimes.
Well, I have alot of homework to do now.

Yeah, I'm pretty much wishing I could sleep right now, but I just can't so I'm wasting my time on the good ol' internet.
Oh well.
It's like 2:30 almost and I'm only going to get like 4 hours of sleep if I can even get to sleep right now.
I might miss church tomorrow and sleep in a little, or just go to the church down the road that has later services. I'm not sure. Before you think I'm a terrible person for saying I might miss church, realize that I haven't missed one yet.
Anyway, tomorrow is going to be homework day. Finish one paper and write another. The one that needs to be revised is an english comp paper. We have to turn in a cause/effect essay on Tuesday. Then the other one is a one page paper entitled. Leviticus synthesis paper. It's really not too hard, but I'll have to make myself do it. I got a 95 on my first one (Genesis) so that makes me pretty happy. I've also got an A+ in Music Theory 1 :)
As for my other classes, I have an A in Biblical fundamentals, but that is because it's graded on pass or fail basis. All you have to do is finish the reading assignments and come to class. Then, if you're wondering and I know you all are... jk, but I'm gonna tell you just in case you are, I've gotten two papers back from English Comp and gotten a B both times, which pretty much makes me really happy. I'm shooting for B-A in that class, it's not really a hard class but I'm not really the greatest writer. Then there's US Government. Not really worried about that class even though I've got a B. B is about average for me I guess, but I think I can bring it up to an A. I just got a D on one of my quizzes for getting like 4 or 5 questions wrong and then I got a b on the last exam, but it's ok.
Well, I don't really have anything else to write on...
Oh, tonight I went to a deaf night at a coffee shop. That was very interesting. It was pretty fun. I went with most of our Outreach team that went to Grace Bible Deaf church. Jim came too.
Well, I should probably go try to sleep now. Of course now that I'm hardly going to get much sleep I don't even feel like going to bed... but I will. Goodbye cruel world! (for a few hours lol)

Monday after Outreach week

Well, I'm back from outreach week. I have alot I could talk about, but I'm only going to write a few sentances. I've decided that whenever I feel like blogging I'm going to and only write a few sentances. Because usually when I want to blog I don't because there's so much I want to blog about, and I don't have time to write that much. Anyway, outreach week was good except for the fact that I lost my cell phone at the deaf blind apartments. I think it'll be found soon enough, but I'm not sure. So that's a total bummer. I only lost it on Saturday, but I'm pretty sure it's in the rec room there so I think my friend will find it.
Other than that it was a really great week. I got to know some people and got to know others better. I got a chance to interperet and that was fun. Well, That's all I'm going to write.

What is life worth?

Actually that title doesn't have anything to do with my post *snicker snicker*
But it got your attention didn't it? Anyway,

Yeh, it's been a while since I've posted.
I know, sorry about that.
I've been doing well. Had a week where I had like 3 tests (like 3 because I only had two but one of them was like two because it had two parts two different days).
and then this week I just had normal homework but a paper to do too.
Next week I've got outreach week, that'll be nice because we have no school. I'm going with a group to minister to Grace Bible Deaf Church. It should be pretty fun.
I'm pretty happy because I got my computer to be able to type Russian. I'm trying to learn some more Russian. There's quite a few Russians here or people that know Russian here. So next week we don't actually have a week off of school. It's really just 4 days off (besides Sunday). We still have Monday and Tuesday classes.
Not a whole much else to post on. My classes aren't too hard. If you ask me how hard they are on Monday or Tuesday (maybe Wenesday too) then I'd probably say they're really hard. My week is kind of more unbalenced in the way that there's more work on the beginning than the end, it starts out extremely hard and busy but when i hit Wednesday it starts to get easier. I'm working down at the Computer Services and tis' really a great job. I'm loving it. I'm getting better and better at fixing computers every week and it's really fun, I can usually count on work to be something that I have to do, but it's relaxing and I can't do homework while I'm doing it.
Well, I don't really have anything else to post about. I don't usually do much of anything on the weekends, it's not real exciting, but I feel like just relaxing after a week of work, homework, classes, and lack of sleep.

College life...

Old camp post

I was going through my things and found in a notebook a thing I wrote that I may have been planning on writing to put up. I don't know if I ever actually posted it, but it's pretty good, and after not seeing it for so long I want to post it now. I think I wrote it last year during camp (which is why it didn't go straight to the computer, and also probably why it's so good. I tend to write better when I do it on paper away from a computer screen. Too much distraction on a computer I guess.) Anyway, I'll just type this up. It's nice to have something of substance to post without actually having to think it up lol.

God says: "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself; Do not merely look out for your own interests, but also for the interests of others.
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who although, he existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God to be a thing to be grasped, But emptied Himself, taking the from of a bond-servant and being made in the likeness of men."

Originally I was going to only quote the third verse, but Paul just explains it so amazingly well and thoroughly that I just had to keep going.
What we need to realize is that Paul is talking to people like us! And we need to apply these God given instructions to our own lives and attitudes. Simply stated, we need to squash the ego and trash the pride. Because this isn't just a suggestion, it's God almighty demanding that we "Do nothing from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind let each of you regard one another as more important than himself" And that is the kind of humility God wants from every one of us as Christians. Besides that we have a testimony to the world. We need to show what real Christians are made of and be "intent on one purpose". And that purpose is to further the christian cause and ultimately God's great plans and his desires for us to grow in his word and teachings. And thus allow the potter to form our lives like soft clay. Give into God today! And let him take control. As you follow the commands that God has plainly given us.

Saturday after WoW week

Yessiree, it's the Saturday after WoW week. It was completely and amazingly fun this week. The only problem with it is that now I'm going to have to adjust to not having a schedule of one thing to the next right after each other throughout the days. When I first came and started WoW week I felt like I should be doing a class or something, and so doing a whole week of welcome felt, well it just felt kind of weird. But the problem is now, I'm going to have to go through a whole different kind of adjustment and getting used to having classes. *Sigh* Isn't life lovely lol.
But I'm going to be happy getting into classes. I've got my first classes on Monday. Those will be music theory, biblical fundamentals, US government, and collegiete singers (sp I know).
I also start work at the computer center (which I was very happy about getting a job at). That's going to be fun. Well, my friend Jim is here so I'm gonna go now.

WoW week today.

Well, today and yesterday actually.
Yesterday
We got to go to the beach for a few hours and have dinner there. That was incredibly fun. I got to go skidboarding, which is where you have this roundish, pointed board and you wait until the wave is going out and then you run and drop the board and jump on and skid across the retreating wave really fast. It's amazingly fun. I wiped out quite a few times, that was though, as I told a few people, half the fun when you'd get a really cool wipeout. That would usually happen when you went pretty far and then a wave came and you hit it coming in. Then you'd either ride over it and then stop or totally flip off and get soaked lol.
Some people did some really great sand sculptures too while we were there. There was a really super looking horse lying down which they called "monty lying down" since the mascot is a horse named monty.
There was also a really cool living room. Yes, a living room, they had a full sized couch carved into the ground with a ditch where you put your feet so you could actually sit down on the nearly real looking cushions. Then there was one more worth mentioning that was a face that was really nice looking and had a funny lip-sticking-out look on it.
Today
I went to "The Master's Distinctives" that I get to go to every morning, which is actually basically a chapel time where we get to sing worship songs. And while I'm thinking about it I need to mention that their band is really good, and really sweet sounding. Then we had a seminar called "new student success seminar" and that was basically another thing where he talked about us not being lazy and remembering to plan and go to bed at the right time and other stuff like that. Then we had lunch which was number 1 of what has made this day really awesome. The first reason that made my day great was that we had lasagna and that's like my #2 favorite (raviolis is my first in case you were wondering) and we also had rice krispy treats that were really good. Then the #2 thing that made my day was that as I was walking around a car was pulling out from the parking lot next to me and the guy that kind of manages the computer center leaned over the driver to hey to me as they drove by. So that was really sweet, then later another guy that worked at the computer center said hi to me. Then the #3 thing that made my day was I finally got my mailbox open, that was awesome. I got my new Visa card, and then I got my contacts. Next the #4 thing was that as I sat in our computer orientation class with my computer (which I was happy that they let me have since I was gonna be pretty bored in that since I pretty much had everything figured out) I checked my e-mail and that same guy that is the manager of the computer center sent me an e-mail that seemed to say that as soon as the job fair rolls around tomorrow that they'll give me a job there right off.

Well I don't have really any time to blog but I'll say this: I went and had a talk with this guy in the computer department and although I have to wait until friday to actually get a student-employment job it really sounds like they are totally ready to hire me. I'm gonna look around at some other jobs too just in case, but it's looking really good and I really hope I get into that job.
Pray for me, I'm having fun, but there's work ahead and lots of it just in case you want a little too :)

Bloggin at College now

I'm gonna have to start getting used to having internet so fast I click and a page just appears with virtually no waiting. Yep, I'm at TMC now.
I really gotta go to bed now, but I just wanted to make a quick post.
When I got here I was excited because I got the dorm I wanted. Then we went up to see the dorm room I got. We went and found out that I got to be in the most recently remodeled room. This was way better than I expected, it's really nice because everything's new and besides that there's central airconditioning for this dorm room itself. I'm getting used to having the temperature kind of low since I can't figure out how to change the thermostat. Also, the reason my roomates can't figure it out either is because I don't have any! Not really, but I won't have any for a week. This week is the WoW, week of welcome for those of you who didn't read Jeremiah's comment. That's the week for all of the first timers here at master's. The reason I don't have any roomates though is because I'm the only freshman in a dorm room of 5 which is pretty neat (I think it is) but weird because I have the whole thing to myself for a week. One thing that felt a little weird to me was having this week of welcome. While it's really really fun, I felt like I should be learning something or something and having more free time. I think this Wow week is to keep freshmen busy so they don't get homesick, but I found it kind of strange when I was expecting more time to go places I felt like going and taking classes and stuff. I don't know maybe I'm just weird for wanting to take classes right away lol, I guess it's just the homeschooler in me. Anyway, I did get to go to John MacArthur's church today which was really fun. He's a great pastor and I think I'm going to have to go to his church for a while. I didn't think I'd like it at first because it's such a humongous church (like 3-7 thousand) but I really liked the music at first (I guess that has something to do with the fact that they have a little orchestra and a huge choir right there for the singing of hymns in the Sunday service), but then also I liked our "Sunday school" which was actually "college group". That was fun, both messages we heared were really really good and I kept my classroom urge satisfied by taking notes in the 1st service and then at the night service. What's cool also is that they give you a bulliten for that day and it has all the songs your going to sing (mostly) and then a really nice area for taking notes that is made of really nice writing paper and has a place to write the main text and the title of the sermon. They also give you one of these for the night service which is really sweet and a nice way to take and keep your notes. I'm gonna like getting these little things every Sunday :) Well I have a really busy day tomorrow and I gotta go spend some time under them sheets so I'm gonna hit the shower and go to bed.

Where I've been what I've done (Camp)

Well, I wanted to post a whole ton of stuff about camp but I don't have time I'll just post a little bit of what I've been doing and what I'm gonna be doing.
I went to my last year of Highschool camp at Twin Peaks Bible Camp. I'd have to say that this was the best year of camp I've ever been to in my life. We didn't have very good surprise hours since it rained almost every evening, but the thing is, I don't go for the surprise hours only (of course!). One thing that made it great was that I got to take Stacie to the banquet, and that was really fun.
Other than that I got to go this year with Chandler. I was sad that Max and Sergey didn't get to come but I'm happy that at least I got to go one year with Chandler. All right, so the next reason I've been away from my computer so much is because a few days after I came back from Twin Peaks' camping I went to our youth group campout. That was a really great campout (except for a few people, but they weren't too bad luckily). That one lasted Thursday through Sunday and was great fun. Really quickly now because I gotta run, this coming thursday I gotta leave with my family for California. This unfortunately means I won't be going to church again, at least not Sunday church becuase I will be there wednesday (which means if you want to see me again before college you're gonna have to come to our wednesday night service that starts at 7:00pm).

I don't have alot more to post except I'll be back online by about saturday which is when I get to college, however it looks like I'll be pretty darn busy for about a week because they're gonna have a week of welcome before classes and stuff start. Oh, one more thing, pray for me on Monday because I have an interview of sorts with someone at the computer center for a job for my work-study program.

This week at TPBC

Well, I spent a week at TPBC doing the A-team work. That was real fun. We got to go up and sit looking at the stars at the ball diamond twice. I played and got real good at playing ping-pong. One of the quite interesting things I never would have guessed I would have done is 1. learn how to play Yu-gi-oh. A pretty weird game but not too bad. and secondly I learned how to play basketball. It's not like I didn't know how to play before, but I haven't played a real (real is a loose term ok?) game of basketball in years. I did alot better than the last time I played basketball I'm pretty sure since the reason I wouldn't play it ever is because I stunk like you wouldn't believe. I'm still not that good because I can't make too many shots but I'm not too bad. It seems that at a certain point of my maturing from kid to near-adult my senses, acuracy, and muscularity have heightened making it feel like I'm more elvish than before. By the way that's what I compared it to because of what happens to Eragon in the books by Christopher Paolini (that might be wrong spelling).
Anyway I ended up doing those things on Friday after getting really bored out of my mind because I couldn't find anyone on the a-team that was doing anything fun except for the people playing basketball. I also managed to bloody Danny's lip during basketball (on accident of course) because I didn't see him and I leaned left to run that way and slammed my head into his chin.
I was sorry (not nearly as sorry as I would have been if it were someone else, but sorry nonetheless).
All in all it was a great weekend.

Stem Cell Research

I couldn't decide whether to post this on The Loudmouth, but I just decided to post it here especially since I can't upload pictures at Townhall.
Anyway, I like this not because I'm unhappy that the president vetoed the stem cell research bill, but that this is the first bill he's vetoed, thus the emergency box. Before I even read this I was joking with my dad about the president practicing up so he'll be in veto-writing shape when it came.

Twin Peaks!!

Woo Hoo! Here comes A-team!
This Monday I'll be off for a week of funness at Twin Peaks, being an A-team member for the Jr. High week. Unfortunately this means I have to put up with Sarah and her airheaded friends, but It's not all that bad lol.

I wrote a post detailing a little better what I'm going to say here but my internet filter blew it out of the web so, I'll sum it up. I take notes as I do my Bible reading. The things I write down aren't usually all that great, but occasionally I write something that is really good and is pretty good insight (At least it seems that way to me) and seems like something that I ought to share. So, I've decided that I'm going to go through my Bible reading notes and find some excerpts and publish them here. Of course this won't be anytime real soon since I have a full two weeks of camping at Twin Peaks, but after that I'm going to have to try and get that going.
Hopefully I'll get a chance to update my blog in between weeks, but we'll see, I may not even be coming back in between if I get a place to stay while I'm up there. In any case I'm going to Max's house this weekend too, so starting tomorrow I'm gonna go have alot of fun stuff to tend to.

Bible Reading Notes

I haven't been updating this blog that much and I have a good reason too! I haven't done anything worth blogging about! Mostly just delivering phonebooks, but besides that, the reason for this post is just to say that I've thought of something that will provide some "blog fodder" as Chandler calls it.
I have been reading through the new testament and taking notes while doing it. Just personal notes nothing really great, but while doing it I have written some things that might be worthy of blogging and so I'm going to post some excerpts from my Bible reading notes for you to read and (hopefully) comment about. Right now however it is after midnight and I have to get up early so I'll be hitting the hay and try to get a post up tomorrow with the first one.

At least that's their slogan. I spent all of today (well enough of it) and most of the week delivering phone books mostly to gigantic and extremely wealthy looking houses. The amount of money that must have been spent on these houses has to be amazing!
Well, Today I found out another interesting thing. Benjamin's brain apparently is run by two old men playing chess inside it LOL.
That's pretty much all I have to blog about. I'm going to try and spend today as much as possible reading up on political stuff. That is if I ever finish doing the other stuff.... cleaning the bathroom, calling people... *grumble grumble* anyway!

A new blog??

Ok, so I'm finally going to try and get serious about political commenting. I've signed up at Town Hall and I'm going to attempt to keep updating consitantly on current issues. I'll be making this blog after I do some more research. Not everyone may know this but *looks up at the description of this blog* ... oh nevermind it does say that hehehe. This blog was origionally inteded for a purpose like that. So hopefully I will be able to keep up and keep it going. I'll post when I get one made. But for now it will be off to read up on current events and familiarize myself with politicans.

Don't buy xbox controllers from Amazon

Well I've about had it with the idiots selling xbox controllers on Amazon. I ordered two controllers for Philip's birthday (yeah just keep that in mind when he tells you that I'm a rotten brother) and only one has come. The one I did get came with a nearly severed cord and didn't even have the connection cable that goes from the cord to the xbox. I posted a really angry comment about that seller. After that I e-mailed him and asked what in the world he was thinking. He replied with an e-mail in all caps asking why I didn't let him resolve it first. This is the first time I'd actually left any negative feedback and so I didn't really think he'd do anything. In that same e-mail he'd said remove the feedback for a refund. I did and told him so, this was before I read a thing on Amazon that said not to remove negative feedback under pressure from sellers. So far as much as he's concerned about me now he's dropped off the face of the earth (idiot). Well, as for the other controller the seller very well could have died and I wouldn't know. The very least they could do is send an obituary to let me know. The controller hasn't arrived, the money is gone and the seller hasn't replied to the e-mail I sent him A COUPLE WEEKS AGO. I just now sent another one threatening him with a negative comment if he doesn't let me know what's going on. Unfortunately that's all I can threaten. Apparently you have to send back the merchandise to get a refund. As for the other controller, it's usless and even if I sent it back I'd only be getting about 3 dollers of my money actually back since they don't refund shipping and I'd have to pay 8 bucks total in shipping costs (here and back) as well as getting it all ready and sending it. So I'm pretty mad. I might try to go to Amazon and see if I can complain to them about it. The controller I got was described as at least usable, I wouldn't buy anything less :(

Backpacking.

Yessirree, that's where I was for exactly (more or less haha) 6 days. We left last Sunday and drove for a long long time to get to the end point of where we were planning on going to. We then drove to the start point of where we were going to start. That's what we were planning on anyway. We drove for a real long time (probably over an hour, but that's a guess) on this trail that was as bumpy as the Indiana Jones ride at Disney Land, probably a little more bumpier actually and not as fast or as fun :( . anyhoo we finally got a point where Fred (the owner of the truck we were riding in) figured he might have blown out some gears. It was also getting dark so we stopped and camped up by some trail head. The next morning we drove down the road a ways more and got to the trail head we started the backpacking trip from. I'm not sure exactly whether we were supposed to start there or not. I didn't pay much attention to the navigation of where we were going because to tell the truth I didn't care that much. We had six people with us and enough that knew what they were doing so I didn't pay much attention to the navagating junk. Anyway, we hiked all day that day mostly through marshy muddy stuff. We finally stopped. Me and Benjamin were really exhausted and sore. I think that was probably the longest day we did on the trip ironically. We couldn't find a good camping spot so we camped on this area that was kind of slanted but good enough (at least for me, some of our group griped a little about it) We ate an MRE (meal ready to eat) that night. It was delicious too. Those are the meals they get in the army. The next day we hiked a while then got to this mountain range we had to cross. So, we walked up and over. It wasn't exactly the easiest way over, and in fact I think it was probably one of the harder ways over, but we made it (finally ). We climbed up what was probably like a 45 degree slant (or more, some of the time I was pretty much crawling and using the three points on at all times rock climbing rule too.)
So, we got over and then took lunch and a little lay-down rest. I got to have the rare privelidge of using the exotic Chandler picture taker. So, I got some backpack nappers on photo :) After we left that place we walked for a little while and then crossed another pass (AGAIN!!) lol. that one was fun because we found a gigantic snow drift at the top and I wrote my name in it and then we went to the top of the pass. We sat at the top of this pass longer than any other one. This was fun, one of the best views on the trip either way you looked too. I also got to see a pica (I think that's how you spell it). Those things are the funniest little bunny/mouse things I've ever seen. Then we climbed down a steep muddy and snowbank filled section of mountain intent on being slippery. We lived through that easier than most of the hiking though :) I enjoyed sliding on the steep portions of snow. After we went down a ways finding a camping spot pretty close to a small stream we set up our tents. There was so little flat camping ground (that was covered by some scrawny trees we used for wind buffers) that the tents were actually touching except for one. We camped there for a few days and that was actually our last camping grounds of the trip. While Chandler, Benjamin, my dad, and I stayed here. During this trip I had been applying suntan lotion like a crazy man because I'd learned my lesson after skiing, as Chandler, KC, and Traci could tell you lol. Even so with all my sunscreen drenched skin I got some sunburn mainly on the areas of my skin that got exposed when I was forcibly made to get a haircut. Can you believe it? I had to get a haircut!
lol, I actually had wanted to look as shaggy as I could for the backpacking trip so I tried to avoid getting a haircut till afterwards, but my dad said I'd have to pay for it if I waited (awfully mean eh? lol).
Anyway these last few days of the trip we saw some deer that stayed around our camp for like 2 days. We got really close to them too, that was cool. Chandler spent most his time taking as many pictures as he possibly could of the deer lol. We had to stay in the tent one time for a long time playing euchre, which was fun but they were small tents!
I think in all reality they are supposed to be one person tents but we had two people per tent. For euchre however, we had four people packed into one tent to play for a while lol.
After one day we went down to see if we could get any reception on a cell phone to see if Fred and Mr. Prall left a voicemail as to how their situation was. They had gone to see about getting the truck out off the mountains. (I don't know if I remembered to mention that.)
So after we got about 1 mile away from the parking lot we met up with Mr. Prall who told us how things were going and stuff. That morning we'd taken a little hike too. That night Fred got back and he'd gotten the truck out really well with the help of some really nice folks. Well, the next day we hiked all the way back to the parking lot and then went into town and ate at a resturant. That was pretty good. Unfortunately they were pretty expensive for how much food they gave. On the way home we all had monsters (well the kids did). And Chandler was going wacky with caffiene lol. I don't know if I was or not, but it seemed like I wasn't reacting much to the caffiene at all lol, I think I was just really tired.
Overall I think that the trip was really really great and I'll remember it for a long time. To the tell the truth however I'd say backpacking is really boring, and not really worth the effort it takes. If you're planning on going packpacking I'd advise you just go rent a campsite somewheres where there's a lake or a swimming pool or something and go have lots of fun. However if you do go backpacking be sure and bring a camera or your hard work will only leave you sore (although more buff)and picturless. I think besides the good fellowship the sights are probably the best thing on the whole trip. That's pretty much all folks.

Last Sunday,
We went and gave out free ice cream with our church along with newspapers from our church and tracts. We, as usual, had fun with the dry ice :) :D XD
Me and Sergey went around and held cups of water with pieces of dry ice and telling people we had hot coffee lol. Later after we went to get ice cream me and Sergey made a dry ice bomb hehehe. The water bottle we put the ice in swelled up bigger than I thought a bottle could. Then Sergey went and poked it with his toe and it blew. That was really really loud too lol. Then tonight we went and watched more fireworks near our home. I think they were better than the ones we saw Sunday. Even though they shot them off more slowly they were way bigger and the boom level was much better :)

Bits and peices

During the backpacking trip we decided that you couldn't have a rockslide unless you had molasses.

We started calling Chandler's Mp3 player the little red thing of happyness.

We started laughing at certain flowers for no particular reason.

We came up with; "lethargic slug" Isn't that great? LOL

Yeah, so the moral is. If you have sanity save it and don't go packpacking if you know what's good for you!
